How Clinical Psychology works:
Clinical Psychologists have doctoral level training which means that they are highly specialised in understanding and treating mental health difficulties.
Clinical Psychologists provide a formulation (or shared understanding) of a person’s current difficulties that incorporates historical influences with factors that seem to maintain distress. This means that interventions are specifically adapted to best fit the person, and that they are most likely to be successful.
Types of Therapy We Offer
Compassion Focused Therapy
A treatment approach focused on developing a person’s capacity for self-compassion in order to improve their psychological wellbeing and reduce psychological distress.
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy
A form of mindfulness-based therapy that helps people accept their difficulties, and commit to making changes in their lives that are congruent with their values.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
A talking therapy based on the connection between a person’s thoughts, feelings and behaviour. Therapy is based on developing new ways of thinking and acting in situations that currently cause distress.

I was recommended to Verity by my employers Occupational Health Department as I was suffering from depression and anxiety. I was in a bad way very tearful, feeling insecure and out of control . I was very sceptical and convinced CBT was not going to help me. Having looked at Verity’s website and spoken with her over the telephone about what I was experiencing I felt she would be able to help me.
I made an appointment. I found Verity really easy to talk to especially as I was very emotional and my head was all over the place, but she still managed to make sure that I went away with tools to use that helped me to change my mindset, recognise my feelings and learn how to manage them in a positive way.
I am now consciously aware of the second voice in my head that conveys negative thoughts to me. I recognise what was happening and why I was feeling so desperate, distressed, insecure, depressed and anxious, and I am working hard to overcome these feelings using the tools that Verity taught me to use.
Verity helped me to turn my life around and has taught me how to manage the negative thoughts that were affecting my life so much, in a way that I can now use the coping mechanisms that I have to overcome them.
I would strongly recommend Verity to anyone who needs CBT treatment . Verity has helped me to change my mindset completely and for that I cannot thank her enough.
Words cannot express how much of a relief it is to feel human and in control of my life again, instead of feeling like I was drowning in a pool of desperation depression and insecurity.
Thank you Verity for all your help and for giving me my life and sanity back.
My story. I’m 56, in an executive professional career. Recently, it’s been very black times for me. Stress, anxiety, a relationship breakdown, depression.. No sleep. I was a mess 24/7.
A whole mix of negative emotions. Just trying making the contact with a professional counselling was hard. “How daft was I”. Found Doctor Lawrence on a professional web site.
The best contact I have ever made. My first visit, nervous, not knowing what to say or expect.
Dr Lawrence made me feel so much better in minutes. I felt, ( in fact, she knew and understood),also exactly what I was saying. The relief is that there was someone here for me.
No judgement, just caring, wonderful sound professional observations and guidance. The environment, relaxing and confidential. This lady, will help you on the journey to your recovery.
I can honestly say, Dr Lawrence has got me over what was this emotional horrid time for me. And I really didn’t think it was possible.
Dr Lawrence.. “Thank you”, but this thank you means so much to my life right now, and so much more going forward. You’ve made it better.
