Dr Verity Lawrence
I was recommended to Verity by my employers Occupational Health Department as I was suffering from depression and anxiety. I was in a bad way very tearful, feeling insecure and out of control . I was very sceptical and convinced CBT was not going to help me. Having looked at Verity’s website and spoken with her over the telephone about what I was experiencing I felt she would be able to help me.
I made an appointment. I found Verity really easy to talk to especially as I was very emotional and my head was all over the place, but she still managed to make sure that I went away with tools to use that helped me to change my mindset, recognise my feelings and learn how to manage them in a positive way.
I am now consciously aware of the second voice in my head that conveys negative thoughts to me. I recognise what was happening and why I was feeling so desperate, distressed, insecure, depressed and anxious, and I am working hard to overcome these feelings using the tools that Verity taught me to use.
Verity helped me to turn my life around and has taught me how to manage the negative thoughts that were affecting my life so much, in a way that I can now use the coping mechanisms that I have to overcome them.
I would strongly recommend Verity to anyone who needs CBT treatment . Verity has helped me to change my mindset completely and for that I cannot thank her enough.
Words cannot express how much of a relief it is to feel human and in control of my life again, instead of feeling like I was drowning in a pool of desperation depression and insecurity.
Thank you Verity for all your help and for giving me my life and sanity back.
My story. I’m 56, in an executive professional career. Recently, it’s been very black times for me. Stress, anxiety, a relationship breakdown, depression.. No sleep. I was a mess 24/7.
A whole mix of negative emotions. Just trying making the contact with a professional counselling was hard. “How daft was I”. Found Doctor Lawrence on a professional web site.
The best contact I have ever made. My first visit, nervous, not knowing what to say or expect.
Dr Lawrence made me feel so much better in minutes. I felt, ( in fact, she knew and understood),also exactly what I was saying. The relief is that there was someone here for me.
No judgement, just caring, wonderful sound professional observations and guidance. The environment, relaxing and confidential. This lady, will help you on the journey to your recovery.
I can honestly say, Dr Lawrence has got me over what was this emotional horrid time for me. And I really didn’t think it was possible.
Dr Lawrence.. “Thank you”, but this thank you means so much to my life right now, and so much more going forward. You’ve made it better.
We were advised to start with a neuropsychological assessment (for my sister-in-law who had a severe traumatic brain injury), and that’s when we found Verity.
Initially we had only planned to see Verity for the neuropsychological assessment and no further follow-up, because her office is situated quite a way from where we are and we had limited time overall, since my sister-in-law was in the UK on a visitor’s visa and would have to return to her home country soon. But during the assessment, it soon became clear how skilled, competent and compassionate Verity was, and how beneficial seeing her would be for my sister-in-law.
My sister-in-law is a reserved person who does not open up easily to strangers, but Verity just seemed to know how to put her at ease. She was comfortable enough to speak openly and honestly about her struggles and her rehabilitation experience, and Verity’s kindness and expertise were the perfect combination to help her start to navigate and take charge of her own rehabilitation journey. We saw massive leaps of improvement in my sister-in-law’s cognitive abilities, and her self-confidence has increased dramatically, too.
There are no words to express how grateful I am to Verity for her excellent care. In terms of practical matters, she was willing to be flexible with scheduling which was a massive help. And she even agreed to continue seeing my sister-in-law in video-based sessions after her return to her home country. But more than that, Verity’s kind and compassionate approach and her very obvious expertise have been enormously beneficial. She has helped give my sister-in-law the confidence and strategies to rebuild her life and get back to doing the things she loves.
This kind of specialised care is not cheap but Verity is worth every penny, and I would wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone who is seeking comprehensive neuropsychological care after a traumatic brain injury.
Thank you, Verity, for everything you have done and continue to do for my sister-in-law.
